Australia secured a thrilling 1-wicket victory over Pakistan in the U-19 World Cup semi-final held in Benoni, South Africa.
The win takes Australia into the final, where they will face India on Sunday, February 11.
Chasing a target of 180, Australia achieved victory on the first ball of the 50th over.
Despite Pakistan’s impressive performance in the bowling department, especially with Ali Raza taking 4 wickets and Arafat Minhas contributing two, they were unable to overcome the challenge.
The batting heroes for Australia were Harry Dixon who scored 50 and Oliver Peake who contributed 49. But it was Raf MacMillan’s crucial unbeaten 10 runs that steered the team into the mega final.
In the first innings, Pakistan were bowled out for 179 with Tom Straker taking 6 wickets. Top scorers for the Green Shirts were Azan Awais (52) and Arafat Minhas (52).
In the second semi-final, India defeated South Africa in a closely fought match to secure a 2-wicket win in a nail-biting encounter.
