A new study has revealed that the chances of an asteroid colliding with Earth in 2032 have doubled.
According to scientists, a collision is expected between Earth and asteroid 2024 YR, which was discovered last year, on December 22, 2032.
The 90-meter-wide asteroid was initially predicted to have a 1% chance of hitting Earth, but recent forecasts have increased this probability to 2.3%.
NASA has stated that it will continue to study the asteroid, and as more information about its orbit is gathered, the collision probability will be reassessed accordingly.
