Apple Portable iPad Pro Price
The new device retails for $999 or $83.25/month. 12 months.
This is not unusual for Apple, which usually puts its latest chips in the Mac lineup, and the M3 chip showed up last fall. Analysts told Reuters that Apple plans to get its newest chip, more powerful and dedicated to solving AI problems, into the hands of software makers ahead of its annual software development conference next month.
The launch of the iPhone maker’s latest product follows Silicon Valley’s Big Tech heavyweights as they race to integrate their products into AI products and dominate emerging technologies.
Apple says that the high-priced iPad Pro will upgrade the display, starting at $1,000 for the 11-inch (27.9 cm) model and $1,300 for the 13-inch (33 cm) model.
The M4 chip, the larger “neural engine”, will be part of a chip designed specifically for the type of computing required by AI features, such as generating text or images. Apple’s chip has been a nerve machine since 2017, but rivals such as Intel (INTC.O) Open a New Tab and (QCOM.O), Open a New Tab, have begun unveiling competing technologies for personal computers.
“The Neural Engine makes M4 a very powerful chip for AI,” said Tim Miller, Apple’s vice president of platform architecture.

Apple usually introduces new iPads in May, when education customers are making purchase decisions for the next school year. But in recent years, Apple has made the more expensive model a tool for creative and business professionals with the iPad Pro model.
What kind of AI power the new chip might have may not be clear until Apple’s developer conference, which often showcases new capabilities for Siri, its voice assistant and other operating systems.
