KARACHI, November 3, 2026: Pakistan’s wheat imports are continuing as another vessel carrying 59,132 metric tonnes of wheat is scheduled to arrive at Karachi Port, raising hopes that increased supplies could help ease flour prices in the country.
the vessel, named Great Rainbow, is expected to dock at Karachi Gateway Terminal, where arrangements have been made to handle the bulk wheat shipment.
The latest consignment follows the arrival of another vessel carrying approximately 51,000 tonnes of wheat at Karachi Port on October 28. The continued imports are expected to support domestic wheat availability and help meet the country’s food requirements.
Officials expect the additional supplies to improve wheat availability in the market, potentially easing pressure on flour prices. However, any reduction in retail prices will depend on how increased supplies affect market conditions and distribution.
Flour Prices Remain High in Lahore
Despite the prospect of increased wheat supplies, flour prices in Lahore remain elevated.
According to the report, a five-kilogram bag of branded flour is being sold for around Rs1,130, while loose flour is available at approximately Rs200 to Rs220 per kilogram.
Chakki flour is selling at around Rs190 per kilogram, while a 15-kilogram bag of flour costs between Rs2,300 and Rs2,400.
The government-fixed price for a 10-kilogram flour bag stands at Rs1,100.
The arrival of additional wheat shipments could help improve supply, but consumers are still waiting for meaningful relief from high flour prices.
Market developments in the coming days will determine whether the increased availability of imported wheat translates into lower prices for households.
