A 12-year-old girl discovered a 3,500-year-old Egyptian amulet while traveling with her family in Israel.
According to a press release from the Israel Antiquities Authority, the girl, named Daphni Flushtiner, was hiking with her family near the Tel Qana archaeological site in the Sharon region of Israel when she found the amulet.
Daphni explained, “I was looking down at the ground to find smooth pebbles when I suddenly picked up an interesting stone. I showed it to my mother, who thought it was just a regular stone or bead. But then I noticed the engravings on it and insisted it was something special. So, we looked up similar images online and realized it was something significant, and we immediately showed it to the Antiquities Authority.”
Upon investigation, the authority confirmed that the object was an ancient Egyptian amulet, dating back to around 3,500 years ago, from the New Kingdom period.
