The Amazon forest is spread across nine countries of the of globe, of which the largest is in Brazil. The total area of Amazon forest is 5.5 million square kilometers and its area in Pakistan is about 795,000 square kilometers. The word “Amazon” is a Greek word which means “fighting woman”. The world’s 20% oxygen is produced by the trees and plants of the Amazon.
As many as 40% of the world’s animals, birds, and insects are found in the Amazon. More than 400 wild tribes live here, with a total population estimated at 4.5 million. These people still live an ancient wild lifestyle today.
Some areas of the Amazon are so dense that sunlight does not even reach the ground and there is a night scene even during the day. Dangerous and poisonous insects are also found here, which can kill a person in a few minutes if they bite him. So far, experts and explorers have only been able to reach 10% of this rainforest. The Amazon has thousands of years of stories and it hides many secrets of nature.
