Drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs can now be caught by an AI camera, a technology that has been trialed for the first time in the counties of Devon and Cornwall, England.
The AI camera is capable of detecting behaviors in drivers who become unbalanced due to alcohol or drugs. Once identified, an immediate alert is sent to the police, who can then stop the vehicle on the roadside and conduct a test to check for alcohol or drug impairment.
Geoff Collins, the General Manager of the camera development company Ecosense, expressed his pleasure about conducting the first trials of this technology in Devon and Cornwall. He further stated that if we can identify potential hazards before any destructive events happen, it will help keep everyone safe.
The camera can quickly scan any road, without alerting drivers, so they won’t realize they are being monitored until the police pull them over.
