The Auditor General has declared seven recruitments at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) as illegal and ordered the relevant authorities to terminate the services of these employees and recover the wages paid to them.
It must be mentioned here that the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACE) has already started an investigation into the matter. ACE authorities have written to the UET Vice-Chancellor to appoint a focal person to compile a case record.
A UET insider, while speaking said the management of UET was not moved even after the concerns expressed by the Auditor General. Among the professors, heads of departments and administrative officers whose recruitment has been declared illegal and whose salary compensation has been recommended are UET Convenor Admissions Committee Dr. Asim Lone (Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering), Dean of Natural Sciences Professor Dr. Shahid Rafiq, Chairman of the Board Professor of the Department of Mathematics Dr. Mushtaq, UET Narowal Campus Coordinator Professor Dr. Shehbaz and Public Relations Officer Shahid Nazir.

The Auditor General in his report recommended immediate recovery of lakhs of rupees from the illegally recruited staff and teachers and their dismissal.
