Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has said that the Afghan government has not taken any concrete steps against anti-Pakistan terrorists.
The Caretaker Prime Minister while holding a news conference in Islamabad said that after the arrival of the interim Afghan government, terrorism in Pakistan has increased by 60%, 15 Afghan citizens were involved in the suicide attacks, and the UN report also clearly shows anti-Pakistan activities. As mentioned, illegal immigrants have a major hand in spreading unrest in Pakistan.
Anwar-ul-Haq said that Pakistan has provided information about terrorist activities to the Afghan government, the list of terrorists has also been sent to the Afghan interim government, clear evidence of facilitating terrorists has also come out on a few occasions, Afghan government has taken action against anti-Pakistan terrorists. No concrete steps have been taken.
He said that in the last 2 years, there has been an increase in terrorist activities from the Afghan territory and more than 2 thousand Pakistanis have been martyred due to cross-border terrorism.
Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said that Pak-Afghan relations are based on common religion, history, culture and brotherhood. Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees for 4 decades and has supported Afghan brothers for the past 40 years. We will continue the Afghan transit trade.
The Caretaker Prime Minister said that Pakistan has now decided to correct the internal affairs under your help, the number of illegally residing Afghan citizens who have returned so far is around 252,000, 250,000 voluntarily. It is not uncommon for people to go back, given opportunities to all foreign families to go back with dignity, we expect the Afghan government will also take good measures for the returnees.
Anwar-ul-Haq said that the threatening statements of Afghan leaders are regrettable, terrorists are using Afghan soil, the list of wanted terrorists has been referred to Afghanistan, the Afghan interim government should hand over the people involved in terrorism to us. Steps will be taken, Pakistan has asked Afghanistan to choose between Pakistan or the outlawed TTP.
He further said that the accusations and threatening statements of the Afghan authorities have hurt the sentiments of the loyal people of Pakistan. The Afghan Interim Government should realize that both the states are independent. Action against TTP is the right of both the countries. I am hopeful that after these steps our relations will improve further.
In response to a question, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar said that there is no pressure on Pakistan. No ambassador of the country can make any demands from me.
He further said that Pakistani Pashtuns have the same rights as Punjabis, Balochi and Sindhis, no discrimination against anyone will be tolerated.
