Veteran Pakistani actor Khalid Butt breathed his last in Lahore on Thursday after a prolonged illness. He suffered from liver and kidney diseases.
Butt, who has graced the country’s television screens for decades. He also acted in many films, but the drama was his last appearance on television.
Family sources said the actor’s funeral prayer will be held after Asr prayer on Friday.
The ace actor started his career in the 1970s and showcased his talent as a seasoned performer through serious and comedy roles in various Urdu and Punjabi films and TV shows.
The government also honored Butt with the Performance Award for his services to the entertainment industry.
His illustrious career was filled with memorable performances in famous drama serials like Teesra Kinara, Neelay Hath and Boota From Toba Tek Singh.
In addition to showing his acting skills, the acclaimed artist also ventured into directing.
Butt is survived by his widow, two sons and two daughters.
Butt’s actor Sohail Ahmed took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to pray for the higher ranks of the deceased.
