Actress and host Aamna Malik has highlighted the societal pressures and unrealistic expectations placed on women during marriage proposals.
In a recent podcast, Aamna candidly discussed the challenges women face when families search for potential brides. She pointed out that many mothers of prospective grooms insist on daughters-in-law who are slim, tall, and fair-skinned, an ideal she described as unattainable.
She questioned, “If a girl gains weight after marriage, should she be abandoned?”
Aamna also spoke about the growing trend of delayed marriages, emphasizing that modern men and women often prioritize communication and mutual understanding before tying the knot. However, she noted that this search for perfection in a life partner is unrealistic, as no one can have everything in life.
She further criticized the intrusive questions posed to highly educated women, especially those who have studied abroad. “When families approach such women, they ask inappropriate questions like whether they had any relationships during their time overseas,” she said.
Aamna Malik’s observations have sparked widespread discussion on social media about societal expectations and the pressures women face in traditional matchmaking.
