BEIJING: China’s Foreign Minister (FM) on Thursday confirmed China’s steadfast support for Palestine’s bid for full UN membership.
According to state news agency Xinhua FM, she said China fully supports Palestine’s right to achieve full recognition within the international body.
Currently, Palestine has observer status within the United Nations.
China’s disappointment with the United States emerged when it blocked another UN Security Council resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza.
China’s foreign minister has strongly condemned Israel’s aggression against Palestinians, saying there is no justification for attacks on civilians.
China also called for the release of all detainees while pushing for a “more authoritative peace conference” to resolve the long-running conflict.

The foreign minister reiterated China’s commitment to work with the international community to restore peace and save lives in the region.
China’s foreign minister called on both Israel and Palestine to resume peace talks “as soon as possible”, stressing the urgency of diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 30,717 Palestinians have lost their lives to date due to Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, more than 72,000 Palestinians were injured.
