ISLAMABAD: The Constituent Session of the newly elected National Assembly was held today after the Assembly Secretariat convened the session despite the refusal of the President.
However, there was an unexpected event today when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers arrived dressed in masks bearing the likeness of their jailed leader Imran Khan.
Amidst a sea of Imran Khan’s photos and fervent slogans for his release, PTI MPs have highlighted their loyalty to the party’s founder and former chairman. The party’s elected representatives also brought posters of Imran Khan with them.
The protest comes as the PTI finds itself at a crossroads, grappling with the fallout from Khan’s removal as prime minister through a no-confidence vote in April 2022. Despite the setback, the PTI managed to secure victory in the recent general elections. in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, albeit with candidates running as independents.
