According to Engadget, Google has changed the disclaimer displayed in the Chrome browser’s Incognito mode, indicating that data will still be gathered by websites and Google while browsing in this mode.
The move occurred after the tech giant was accused of tracking users’ activity even when they were using Incognito mode.
According to MSPowerUser, the amended statement, which was discovered in Chrome’s experimental Canary channel, states that while others using the same device would not be able to view the user’s activity, it has no effect on how websites gather data.
“Others who use this device will not see your activity, allowing you to browse more quietly. This will not affect how data is collected by websites you visit or the services they use, including Google. “Downloads, bookmarks, and reading list items will be saved,” the disclaimer states.
