LAHORE: Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba has announced that a Pakistani business delegation will visit Ethiopia from January 24 to 29, 2027, to explore trade and investment opportunities and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
The announcement was made during a business forum at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), where the Ambassador invited Pakistani businesses to participate in the upcoming delegation and explore opportunities in Ethiopia’s growing economy.
Upon his arrival at the LCCI, Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba was warmly received by LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar, Vice President Khadim Hussain and other office-bearers.

Addressing the business forum, the Ambassador said the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad would lead the Pakistani business delegation, providing an opportunity for business representatives to explore potential partnerships and investment opportunities.
He particularly encouraged businesses operating in pharmaceuticals, surgical goods, textiles, agriculture, agro-processing, information and communication technology (ICT), and tourism to join the delegation.
The Ambassador also congratulated the LCCI President and other office-bearers on their election and expressed his best wishes for their successful tenure.
Welcoming the Ethiopian Ambassador, LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar assured him of the Chamber’s full support in organising the delegation and facilitating the participation of Lahore’s business community.
He highlighted the significant potential for expanding bilateral trade, noting that Ethiopia offered promising opportunities for Pakistani businesses, while Pakistan’s market also held considerable potential for Ethiopian companies.
The LCCI President proposed a 90-day joint action plan with the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad to facilitate bilateral trade and strengthen economic cooperation, observing that existing trade relations did not reflect the true potential of the two countries.
He also invited Ethiopian chambers of commerce to visit the Lahore Chamber to arrange business-to-business (B2B) meetings and explore avenues for stronger commercial partnerships.
LCCI Vice President Khadim Hussain delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the Ethiopian dignitaries and members of Lahore’s business community for participating in the forum.
The proposed business delegation is expected to provide Pakistani entrepreneurs with an opportunity to explore Ethiopia’s market, establish business connections and identify potential areas of cooperation across multiple sectors.
