A daily cup of coffee may offer more than an energy boost, with Indian cancer surgeon and content creator Dr Arjun Sankaran highlighting potential links between moderate coffee consumption and lower risks of several health problems. The reported benefits include liver disease, type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, heart disease and stroke.
According to the report, some studies have associated coffee consumption with significantly lower risks of certain conditions, while women who drink coffee have also been observed to have a lower risk of uterine cancer. The surgeon recommends moderate consumption, suggesting around two to three small cups a day with limited sugar.
However, experts caution that these findings are based largely on associations observed in studies and should not be interpreted as proof that coffee prevents disease. The report also warns against consuming beverages hotter than 65°C, as very hot drinks may increase the risk of oesophageal cancer.
