New Jersey’s Clinton Road has once again topped a list of the world’s most haunted roads, gaining attention for decades-old stories of mysterious lights and unexplained incidents.
WASHINGTON: Clinton Road, located in West Milford, New Jersey, has been named the world’s most haunted road, according to a report by German rental car company Sixt. The road has remained at the top of the ranking for the third consecutive year.
The approximately 10-mile stretch of Clinton Road runs through a heavily wooded area and has long been associated with mysterious and supernatural stories. Tales surrounding the road have circulated for more than a century, particularly about unexplained lights that some visitors claim appear suddenly before disappearing.

According to the report, Clinton Road’s reputation is based largely on decades of folklore and reported unusual experiences. The road is said to become particularly eerie at night because of its isolated, forested surroundings.
To determine the world’s most haunted roads, the ranking analyzed search trends on Google and TikTok and compared the data with various lists of haunted roads published between 2023 and 2025. Clinton Road emerged as the top-ranked location in the analysis.
While claims about ghosts and supernatural activity remain a matter of belief rather than established fact, Clinton Road continues to attract public fascination because of its long history of mysterious stories.
