LAHORE, Pakistan: The Suthra Punjab 3R and Waste Segregation Model Competition 2026 is encouraging students to explore practical solutions for waste reduction, recycling and sustainable waste management across Punjab.
Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Chief Executive Officer Sheryar Arif Khan visited the pavilions at the competition, which featured participation from government and private schools.
During the visit, he reviewed innovative models developed by students and highlighted the importance of the three Rs — Reduce, Reuse and Recycle — alongside proper waste segregation and responsible waste management practices.
The competition provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of environmental challenges and present ideas for managing waste more effectively. By engaging young people in practical environmental activities, the initiative seeks to build awareness of how everyday choices can help reduce waste and limit pollution.

Waste segregation at source can help separate recyclable materials from other waste, making recovery and recycling easier while reducing the volume of rubbish sent to disposal sites. The three Rs also encourage people to reduce unnecessary consumption, reuse materials where possible and recycle suitable waste.
The initiative aims to inspire the younger generation to take an active role in keeping communities clean and promoting environmentally responsible behaviour.
Student-led activities such as this competition can help connect environmental education with practical action, supporting wider efforts to improve waste management and create a cleaner, greener Punjab.
