CDA Highlights Year-Round Sanitation Efforts to Keep Islamabad Clean and Green

ISLAMABAD, October 13, 2026 — The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Islamabad clean, green, attractive and free from pollution, highlighting the year-round efforts of its sanitation teams to maintain cleanliness, manage solid waste and restore public spaces after heavy rainfall.

Working under the directives of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and the supervision of CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf, sanitation teams are carrying out regular cleaning operations across roads, streets, markets, residential sectors and public spaces throughout the federal capital.

The authority is focusing on improving sanitation services, strengthening solid waste management and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of essential municipal services to residents.

Sanitation Workers Play Key Role in Urban Cleanliness

Residents have appreciated the dedication and hard work of CDA sanitation workers, whose daily efforts help keep the capital clean, organised and accessible.

Their contribution becomes particularly visible during the monsoon season, when heavy rainfall can leave roads and public spaces covered with mud, leaves, plastic waste and other debris. Sanitation workers continue their duties despite difficult weather conditions, often working through the night to clear roads, remove obstructions and collect accumulated waste.

Their timely response helps restore public spaces and reduce disruption to daily activities, allowing residents to resume their routines in cleaner and more accessible surroundings.

Beyond emergency cleanup operations, sanitation teams remain active throughout the year, collecting and disposing of waste, cleaning public areas and addressing sanitation-related problems across the city.

Year-Round Operations Support a Healthier Urban Environment

CDA’s sanitation programme covers major roads, neighbourhood streets, commercial centres, markets, residential areas and other locations frequently used by residents, visitors and commuters.

Effective solid waste management remains a central part of these operations. Regular waste collection, transportation and proper disposal help prevent the accumulation of garbage, reduce unsanitary conditions and support a healthier urban environment.

Maintaining cleanliness around busy roads, public facilities and commercial areas is also important for Islamabad’s appearance, environmental quality and public convenience.

Monsoon Cleanup Efforts Help Restore Public Spaces

During the monsoon season, heavy rainfall can create additional sanitation challenges, including the accumulation of mud, leaves, plastic waste and other debris on roads and in public areas. Waste blocking drainage channels can also contribute to waterlogging and unsanitary conditions.

CDA sanitation teams work during and after heavy rainfall to clear affected roads, remove debris and collect waste. Operations conducted late at night and in the early morning help prepare roads and public spaces for the following day’s activities.

These efforts are intended to minimise disruption, improve accessibility and support the timely restoration of normal urban activity after adverse weather.

CDA Chairman Emphasises Quality Municipal Services

Under Chairman Sohail Ashraf’s supervision, CDA continues to focus on maintaining sanitation standards, monitoring field operations and addressing cleanliness-related issues promptly.

The authority has acknowledged the contribution of sanitation workers to Islamabad’s cleanliness, public health and environmental quality, stressing the importance of consistent municipal services across the capital.

CDA has also called on residents, businesses and visitors to support the city’s sanitation efforts by disposing of household and commercial waste responsibly, avoiding littering in streets and public places, and keeping drains and waterways free from garbage.

Public cooperation, the authority noted, is essential to improving sanitation outcomes, reducing environmental pollution and maintaining a clean and healthy urban environment.

A shared commitment by residents, businesses and municipal teams can help preserve Islamabad’s natural beauty and strengthen efforts to build a cleaner, greener and safer federal capital.
