FDO Wins PMN Climate Resilience Award for Supporting Women Farmers

ISLAMABAD: The Farmers Development Organization (FDO) has won the Climate Resilience Award in the Medium and Small category at the Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) Awards 2026, in recognition of its work to help vulnerable communities adapt to climate change.

The award recognises FDO’s efforts to strengthen the resilience of women farmers through climate-smart agriculture, skills development and access to inclusive financial services.

According to the organisation, its programmes during 2025-26 trained more than 2,000 women in climate-smart agricultural practices and connected them with FDO’s Islamic microfinance services.

The initiative aims to help women farmers adopt improved farming methods, strengthen their livelihoods and better manage the risks posed by changing weather patterns and climate-related challenges.

Women farmers in vulnerable communities often face financial and resource-related barriers that can limit their ability to invest in improved agricultural practices. Combining practical training with access to finance can help them make informed farming decisions, improve productivity and build greater resilience to climate change.

FDO said the award reflects the dedication and hard work of its team and its commitment to women’s economic empowerment, inclusive finance and climate-resilient communities.

The organisation also acknowledged the support of its partners, including the Pakistan Microfinance Network, Pakistan Microfinance Investment Company, HBL Microfinance Bank, State Bank of Pakistan, United Nations, European Union in Pakistan, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, CARE International Pakistan and Engro.

The recognition highlights the role that community-based organisations and financial services can play in supporting climate adaptation and strengthening the livelihoods of small-scale farmers, particularly women.
