FAISALABAD: The Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences (ISES) at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has organised an international seminar to discuss environmental pollution, modern remediation technologies and sustainable solutions to protect soil, water and ecosystems.
The seminar brought together national and international speakers, researchers, academics, environmental experts and students to discuss emerging environmental challenges and share research findings on pollution control.
Prof. Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at UAF, highlighted the importance of scientific research, innovative remediation technologies and collaboration in addressing environmental pollution.
He stressed the need to strengthen links between universities and industry and promote practical, research-based approaches to protecting soil, water and the wider environment.
The event was co-organised by Prof. Dr. Hafiz Naeem Asghar, Director of ISES, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naveed, Director of the Plant Biotechnology Institute (PBI). Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan, Associate Professor at ISES, served as the focal person, introducing the seminar and presenting an overview of its objectives.
National and international speakers from various institutions shared their expertise on environmental contamination, soil and water pollution, remediation technologies, sustainable environmental management and emerging methods of pollution control.
The discussions highlighted the importance of applying scientific knowledge to address pollution and develop practical solutions for environmental protection. Remediation technologies can help reduce contamination and restore polluted sites, while stronger cooperation between researchers, industry and policymakers can support the adoption of effective environmental practices.
Prof. Dr. Hafiz Naeem Asghar delivered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the technical session.
The seminar was sponsored by the Endowment Fund Secretariat (EFS) at UAF and Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC), Pakistan.
The event provided a platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking and discussion on turning scientific research into practical environmental solutions. Participants also highlighted the role of academic activities in raising environmental awareness and strengthening research capacity.
