Peregrine Falcon Rescued from Illegal Transport Released into the Wild in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Wildlife Department has released a Peregrine Falcon into its natural habitat after it was taken into custody at a motorway toll plaza while being illegally transported to Karachi.

According to the department, the falcon underwent a medical examination and the necessary legal procedures were completed before its release. Wildlife officials declared the bird healthy and fit to return to its natural environment.

The release was carried out under the supervision of Peshawar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Wildlife Manail Wahab. DFO Wildlife Extension Rubeena and Peshawar Wildlife Range Officer Aamir Ali were also present on the occasion.

The department said it would continue its zero-tolerance policy against the illegal capture, possession and transportation of protected wildlife.

The case highlights the importance of enforcing wildlife protection laws to prevent the illegal trade and movement of wild birds. Such enforcement is essential for protecting biodiversity and ensuring that wildlife remains in its natural habitat.

The department urged continued efforts to protect wild birds and other wildlife from illegal capture and transportation.
