FAISALABAD: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Faisalabad has reviewed measures for controlling industrial emissions and ensuring compliance with smog-related environmental regulations during a meeting with representatives of Chinese industries operating in the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC).
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Tahir Abbas Sial, Deputy Director EPA Faisalabad, and focused on implementation of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for industrial units under the Punjab Smog (Prevention and Control) Rules 2023.
The participants discussed the installation of Emission Control Systems (ECS) at industrial units to help control harmful emissions. The meeting also stressed the provision of live CCTV camera access and credentials to EPA Punjab to facilitate environmental monitoring and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Effective monitoring of industrial emissions is particularly important ahead of the smog season, when pollution from industrial activity and other sources can contribute to deteriorating air quality.

Following the meeting, EPA Faisalabad officials and industry representatives also participated in a plantation drive at the industrial estate.
Participants planted trees as a collective environmental initiative under the Clean and Green Punjab vision. Expanding green cover around industrial areas can complement emission-control measures by improving the local environment and providing additional green spaces.
The activities highlighted the importance of cooperation between environmental authorities and the industrial sector in controlling pollution, strengthening compliance and supporting a cleaner and greener industrial environment.
