CPDI and UAF Hold Workshop to Promote Elimination of Industrial Trans Fats

FAISALABAD: The Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI), in collaboration with the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), has concluded an Academia Advocacy Workshop aimed at strengthening evidence-based advocacy for the elimination of Partially Hydrogenated Oils (PHOs) in Pakistan.

The workshop brought together faculty members and researchers to discuss the health risks associated with industrially produced trans fats and the importance of evidence-based approaches to food policy.

Participants highlighted the role of academic institutions in generating and communicating research that can support informed policy decisions and contribute to healthier food systems.

The discussions also focused on the need to strengthen cooperation between academia, policymakers and other stakeholders to promote policies that protect public health and improve the nutritional quality of food products.

CPDI and UAF said evidence-based advocacy can help support efforts to reduce exposure to industrially produced trans fats and encourage healthier food choices.

The workshop underscored the importance of research and academic engagement in shaping food policies aimed at safeguarding public health and promoting healthier and more sustainable food systems.
