PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in a plantation drive in Hayatabad, Peshawar, aimed at promoting urban forestation and nature-based solutions for a greener and more climate-resilient city.
The activity was organised with the support of OGDCL, Institute of Management Sciences (IM Sciences) and Eco Nexus. PRCS KP Chairman Farzand Ali Wazir, Commercial First Aid Officer Ahmad Ur Rehman and PRCS volunteers took part in the plantation activity.

The initiative highlighted the role of urban greenery in creating healthier and more resilient communities. Trees and urban forests can provide shade, help reduce heat exposure, support biodiversity and contribute to improved urban environmental conditions.
During the activity, Chairman Farzand Ali Wazir met senior representatives of the partner organisations, including Director IM Sciences Usman Ghani, Dr. Waseef Jamal, Gym/IM Sciences Focal Person, and Chief Executive Eco Nexus Fakhur Alam.
The participants discussed opportunities to strengthen collaboration on nature-based solutions, urban greening and climate-resilient communities.
The PRCS KP participation also highlighted the importance of community engagement in environmental initiatives. Sustained plantation, along with proper care and maintenance of trees, can help strengthen urban ecosystems and support long-term climate resilience.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment to promoting greener urban spaces and encouraging communities to play an active role in building a more sustainable future.
