LAHORE: Punjab Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Director General Tayyab Farid and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Saif Anwar Jappa led a joint review meeting to explore better coordination, resource optimisation and improved emergency service delivery.
The meeting was held at the Punjab WASA Control Room and brought together technical teams, consultants, Additional Directors General and Directors from both organisations.
The participants reviewed ways to strengthen coordination between WASA and PDMA, particularly during heavy rainfall, urban flooding and other emergencies.
A key focus was the integration of WASA’s existing digital monitoring systems, including real-time rainfall monitoring, disposal station operations and water hydrant tracking.
Officials discussed how these digital dashboards could support faster information sharing, improve situational awareness and help coordinate emergency response operations more effectively.
The proposed integration could strengthen Punjab’s ability to monitor rainfall and drainage conditions in real time, identify emerging risks and deploy resources more efficiently during extreme weather events.
The meeting highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination and technology-based disaster management in strengthening urban resilience and improving public services.
The initiative is aimed at developing more coordinated and responsive systems for managing weather-related emergencies and protecting communities across Punjab.
