PUNJAB: The Environment Department has continued its campaign against substandard shopping bags to help reduce plastic pollution and protect the environment.
On the directions of Deputy Director Environment Engineer Muhammad Imran Mayo, an Environment Protection Force inspector and his team conducted an inspection in Dal Bazaar and seized 21 kilograms of substandard shopping bags.
The department said the action was part of ongoing efforts to discourage the use and sale of non-compliant plastic bags and improve environmental protection measures.
Deputy Director Environment Engineer Muhammad Imran Mayo has directed officials to further intensify enforcement against the production, sale and use of substandard shopping bags.
Reducing the use of poor-quality plastic bags can help limit plastic waste and prevent pollution of streets, drains and waterways.
The Environment Department said enforcement activities against substandard shopping bags will continue.
