MARDAN, September 28, 2026: Commissioner Mardan Habib Ullah Arif and Divisional Forest Officer Wildlife Mardan Izaz Ali Shah held a meeting to review measures for the conservation, protection and sustainable management of migratory birds and other wildlife resources in Mardan Division.
The Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Mardan, also attended the meeting.
Officials discussed the regulated hunting of permitted migratory birds, including Russian Dove and waterfowl. They stressed that hunting must be carried out strictly in accordance with applicable wildlife laws, notified hunting seasons, valid hunting licences or permits and prescribed bag limits.
The meeting also reviewed measures to protect falcons and prevent illegal hunting, trapping, capture, possession, transportation and trafficking of falcons and other wildlife species.
Participants emphasized stronger coordination among the Wildlife Department, Police Department and District Administration to improve enforcement and field-level cooperation across the division.
It was also agreed that Wildlife Department field staff would visit Kohi Bermol Community Game Reserve, Sakra Range, Rustam and identified Grey Goral hotspots. The teams will assess existing conservation and protection measures, identify gaps and recommend further actions for effective wildlife management and habitat protection.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen inter-departmental coordination and ensure compliance with wildlife laws to protect migratory birds, Grey Goral, falcons and other wildlife species in Mardan Division.
Effective enforcement, habitat protection and responsible management of hunting can help conserve wildlife populations while supporting the long-term health of local ecosystems.
