LAHORE, SEPTEMBER 24: Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq chaired a review meeting at the Sutthra Punjab Authority office to assess the performance of district agencies and discuss administrative matters.
Local Government Secretary Zaid bin Maqsood and Director General Sutthra Punjab Authority Umar Javed attended the meeting, while managing directors of district agencies across Punjab participated through video link.
Zeeshan Rafiq said the performance of all agencies would be reviewed every month on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He said anti-littering inspections were also being accelerated across the province.
According to the meeting, anti-littering squads conducted 22,466 visits across Punjab in one month and recorded 2,121 violations.
The minister said fines would be imposed on people found littering despite ongoing public awareness campaigns. In Lahore, the anti-littering campaign will also use support from the Safe City network for monitoring.
He said the installation of tracking systems in Sutthra Punjab loader rickshaws had begun, which would help improve field monitoring and ensure better waste collection services.
Zeeshan Rafiq also expressed satisfaction with the beat plan presented by the Sutthra Punjab Authority. He said the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) was working on tracking waste enclosures and temporary collection points.
Local Government Secretary Zaid bin Maqsood said loader rickshaws must remain within their assigned beats for the required hours and complete the required mileage. He also warned that action would be taken against staff performing duties without uniforms.
Sutthra Punjab Authority Director General Umar Javed said weekly reports of field monitoring officers’ visits were being uploaded to the monitoring portal.
He added that online invoicing had started in Okara, Sahiwal and Pakpattan, while the system would soon be introduced in the remaining districts.
The measures are aimed at improving waste collection, strengthening field monitoring and promoting cleaner and more sustainable urban environments across Punjab.
