SKARDU, September 14, 2026: Secretary Forest, Wildlife and Environment Gilgit-Baltistan Sibtain Ahmad, accompanied by Chief Conservator Parks and Wildlife GB Dr Zakir Hussain, visited the Directorate of Central Karakoram National Park (CKNP) in Skardu on September 14.
During the visit, the Director and Ecologist of CKNP briefed the visiting officials about ongoing conservation activities and key priorities for wildlife protection, sustainable tourism and waste management in the national park.
The officials reviewed efforts to protect the park’s rich biodiversity while promoting responsible tourism and better environmental management.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss conservation and management priorities and ways to strengthen the protection of the park’s natural resources.
DFO Wildlife Baltistan Sajjad Ahmed and RFO Wildlife Skardu Noor ud Din were also present during the visit.
The Forest, Wildlife and Environment Department of Gilgit-Baltistan said it remains committed to strengthening conservation efforts and ensuring the sustainable management of the region’s valuable natural heritage.
