Islamabad Administration Imposes Two-Month Ban on Swimming in Dams and Waterways

ISLAMABAD, September 14, 2026: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has imposed a two-month ban on swimming in Rawal and Simly dams, Swan River and all nullahs across Islamabad under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The restriction has been imposed as a public safety measure to prevent accidents and protect citizens from potential risks associated with swimming in dams, rivers and drainage channels.

The administration has advised citizens to strictly comply with the order and avoid entering the designated water bodies and waterways for swimming during the period of the ban.

Authorities have urged the public, particularly young people, to avoid taking unnecessary risks around deep or fast-flowing water and to cooperate with enforcement officials.

The administration said the precautionary measure is aimed at safeguarding lives and preventing avoidable incidents in Islamabad’s water bodies and drainage network.
