BUNER, September 11, 2026: Muslim Hands, in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), has organised a consultation and validation workshop in Union Council Batara, Tehsil Chagharzai, District Buner, to support the development of a Local Climate Change Adaptation Plan (LCCAP).
The workshop was held under the Integrated Climate Risk Management (ICRM) project, being implemented with the support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), with Muslim Hands serving as a WFP cooperating partner.
The consultation focused on identifying local climate risks and their impacts, prioritising suitable adaptation measures and strengthening the capacity and resilience of communities to cope with the growing challenges posed by climate change.
A total of 45 participants from five Village Council Committees took part in separate consultation sessions. Representatives of WFP, Muslim Hands and Union Council secretaries also participated in the discussions.
The participatory process provided community members with an opportunity to share their experiences of climate-related risks and contribute to identifying adaptation priorities suited to local conditions.
The initiative reflects the importance of community participation in climate planning, particularly in vulnerable areas where local knowledge can help shape practical and locally appropriate adaptation measures.
Through the development of the LCCAP, stakeholders aim to strengthen community preparedness, improve local climate risk management and support more resilient livelihoods in Buner.
