ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Food Security & Research (MNFSR) has reviewed progress on the Prime Minister’s Initiative for the capacity building of 1,000 agricultural graduates in China and discussed preparations for the programme’s second phase.
A review meeting at the ministry assessed implementation progress and focused on preparations for Phase II of the initiative.
Participants discussed priority thematic areas for the next phase, with emphasis on aligning international training opportunities with Pakistan’s evolving agricultural needs.
The proposed areas of training are aimed at strengthening the professional and technical skills of young agricultural graduates and enabling them to play a greater role in modernizing and transforming the country’s agriculture sector.
The meeting was also informed that an upgraded digital portal for the capacity-building programme has been completed and is ready for use. The platform is expected to improve the management and implementation of the initiative while providing a more efficient mechanism for supporting participating graduates.
Participants stressed the need for continued coordination among relevant government departments and institutions to ensure effective implementation and achievement of the programme’s objectives.
The initiative reflects the government’s focus on investing in young agricultural professionals, strengthening technical expertise and developing human capital to address emerging challenges and opportunities in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.
Through international training and skills development, the programme aims to equip a new generation of agricultural graduates with knowledge and expertise that can contribute to innovation, higher productivity and sustainable growth across Pakistan’s farming and food systems.
