ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) has inspected Saidpur Village following reports of a lion allegedly being spotted in the area, but found no evidence confirming the presence of the animal.
According to the IWMB, its rescue team visited the reported location and conducted a field assessment. However, no footprints, tracks or other signs indicating the presence of a lion were found.
The team also could not locate the carcass of a domestic dog that was reportedly killed by a lion, the wildlife authority said.
The IWMB rescue team is continuing to monitor the situation and remains on alert to respond to any potential emergency involving wildlife.
The authority clarified that Margalla Hills National Park is a natural habitat of the common leopard, which is regularly found in the park and surrounding areas.
The IWMB urged residents to avoid approaching or attempting to capture any wild animal if one is spotted and immediately inform wildlife authorities.
