BAHAWALPUR: The Punjab Forest Department has foiled a major attempt to smuggle illegally cut timber in Bahawalpur Forest Division.
Officials intercepted the illegally transported timber and took action against those involved in the offence. The accused were fined Rs. 327,000 under the relevant forest laws.
The confiscated timber was subsequently transported to the Lal Suhanra Timber Depot for safe custody.
The Forest Department said enforcement operations against illegal logging and timber smuggling would continue to protect forest resources and safeguard Punjab’s green cover. Authorities also stressed the importance of strict action against individuals involved in the illegal cutting and transportation of forest timber.
