TORGHAR: The Torghar Forest Division officially launched the Monsoon Plantation Campaign 2026, marking another significant step towards expanding Pakistan’s green cover and strengthening efforts to combat climate change.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hazara Commissioner Shahidullah Khan, Member of the Provincial Assembly and Chairman DEDAC Haji Laiq Muhammad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Torghar Yasir Imran, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ijaz ur Rehman, senior Forest Department officials, field staff, and other distinguished guests. The campaign was formally inaugurated with the ceremonial plantation of saplings.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers highlighted the growing challenges posed by climate change, rising temperatures, and environmental pollution, stressing that large-scale tree plantation is essential to mitigating these threats and restoring ecological balance.
They urged citizens to actively participate in the monsoon plantation campaign by planting more trees and protecting existing forests, emphasizing that public participation is vital to building a greener, cleaner, and more climate-resilient Pakistan.
Special prayers were offered at the conclusion of the ceremony for Pakistan’s peace, prosperity, development, and the continued progress of a greener Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials noted that trees are not merely part of the landscape but are essential for clean air, safe water, biodiversity conservation, and a healthier environment for future generations. They encouraged the public to make tree plantation a shared national responsibility, reminding citizens that every sapling planted today is an investment in a safer and more sustainable tomorrow.
