PESHAWAR, Aug. 3: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife has commended Uthman Khel Welfare Organization Meena, Kot Malakand, for its exemplary participation in the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026, recognizing the organization’s efforts in promoting tree plantation and raising environmental awareness among local communities.
In a statement, the department appreciated the organization for setting a positive example by actively contributing to the province-wide afforestation drive. It said the initiative represents more than just planting trees, describing it as an investment in a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for coming generations.
The department also thanked the organization for sharing a video of its plantation activities and encouraged other community groups, educational institutions, volunteers, and civil society organizations to share their plantation campaigns so their efforts could be acknowledged and highlighted through official platforms.
The statement said the “Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi is gaining momentum across the province, with citizens, students, youth groups, social organizations, government departments, private institutions, and volunteers actively participating in the ongoing monsoon plantation campaign.
It noted that every sapling planted symbolizes a commitment to environmental protection, national responsibility, and a better future for generations to come.
The department further stated that, under the special directives of the Chief Minister’s Adviser on Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife, Pir Musawar Khan, all relevant departments, educational institutions, community organizations, and local stakeholders are working together to transform the monsoon plantation campaign into a broad-based public movement.
Meanwhile, Secretary, Department of Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife, Junaid Khan, has declared the Monsoon and Spring Tree Plantation Campaigns as permanent annual calendar events of the Forest Department. Under this initiative, millions of saplings will be planted across the province every year on March 23 (Pakistan Day) and August 14 (Independence Day) to expand forest cover, mitigate the impacts of climate change, conserve biodiversity, and strengthen efforts towards building a greener and more prosperous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The department urged citizens to actively participate in the plantation campaign by planting trees in their homes, communities, educational institutions, and workplaces. It also encouraged the public to share photos and videos of their plantation activities, reaffirming that collective action remains essential for protecting Pakistan’s natural heritage and combating climate change.
