PESHAWAR: Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Forests, Environment and Wildlife, Pir Musawwir Khan, on Thursday reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening forest and wildlife conservation, promoting transparent governance, and enhancing public awareness through modern communication systems.
Accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for the Forest Department Sher Ali Afridi, the adviser paid a detailed visit to the headquarters of the Forest Department and the Wildlife Department.
The visit was attended by Chief Conservator of Forest Region-I Ahmad Jalil, Chief Wildlife Officer Dr. Mohsin Farooq, Project Director of the Communication Cell Shakeel Khan, and other senior officials.
During the briefing, officials apprised the adviser of departmental affairs, ongoing development projects, forest conservation initiatives, wildlife protection and breeding programmes, tree plantation campaigns, sustainable management of natural resources, measures to curb illegal logging and poaching, and community-based conservation efforts.
Expressing satisfaction over the progress, Pir Musawwir Khan directed the departments to further strengthen modern conservation strategies, monitoring mechanisms, and timely implementation to safeguard forests and wildlife for future generations.
The adviser also visited the Forest Department’s Communication Cell, where he reviewed digital communication activities, social media management, and public awareness initiatives. He stressed the importance of disseminating timely, authentic, and accurate information on government initiatives, afforestation campaigns, wildlife conservation, and environmental protection through modern media platforms to promote transparency, public trust, and greater awareness.
Speaking on the occasion, Pir Musawwir Khan said that protecting forests and wildlife remains one of the top priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government under the Chief Minister’s vision for a greener and environmentally resilient province.
He reiterated the government’s resolve to conserve natural resources, promote biodiversity, address the impacts of climate change, and encourage community participation in building a sustainable and environmentally secure Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
At the conclusion of the visit, officials of the Forest and Wildlife Departments presented commemorative souvenirs to the adviser. Pir Musawwir Khan appreciated the dedication and professionalism of departmental officers and staff, expressing confidence that they would continue their efforts to protect the province’s valuable forests and wildlife.
