Punjab Launches Phase III of Livestock Card Programme with Interest-Free Loans for Farmers

FAISALABAD: The Punjab Livestock Department has officially launched the third phase of the Chief Minister Punjab Livestock Card Programme, offering interest-free loans to eligible livestock farmers to improve animal care and purchase quality feed.

Speaking to APP, Livestock Department spokesperson Dr. Farheen said that under the latest phase, livestock owners possessing 5 to 20 large male animals are eligible to apply for the scheme.

Under the programme, eligible farmers can receive interest-free loans of up to Rs540,000 to purchase quality animal feed and fodder, improve livestock health, and enhance productivity in the livestock sector.

The spokesperson said the application process has already begun and urged all eligible livestock farmers to submit their applications as early as possible to benefit from the government’s support initiative.

She said the programme is part of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to strengthen the rural economy, increase the incomes of farmers and livestock owners, and modernize the livestock sector.

According to the department, access to interest-free financing will enable farmers to purchase better-quality feed, resulting in healthier animals and increased milk and meat production, thereby contributing to the sustainable growth of Punjab’s livestock industry.
