TOBA TEK SINGH: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) launched a citywide rainwater drainage operation immediately after rainfall began in Toba Tek Singh on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Maham Asif Malik and WASA Managing Director Chaudhry Kamran Kahlon.
WASA officials, field staff, and heavy machinery were deployed across the city to ensure the quick disposal of rainwater and prevent inconvenience to residents during the ongoing monsoon season.
The managing director directed officials to ensure that no rainwater remains accumulated at any location. He instructed that all disposal stations, dewatering pumps, and other machinery remain fully operational throughout the monsoon. Officers were also told to stay in the field and personally monitor drainage operations to ensure a rapid response to any emergency.
Deputy Commissioner Maham Asif Malik said the district administration and WASA were working around the clock to provide maximum relief to the public. She said all relevant departments were on high alert to protect lives and property while ensuring smooth traffic flow during the rainy season.
WASA teams reached major intersections, main roads, low-lying areas, markets, and other vulnerable locations soon after the rain started. Disposal stations were kept fully functional, while dewatering pumps were used to speed up the drainage process and restore normal traffic conditions.
Residents appreciated the timely response of WASA teams and welcomed the administration’s efforts to minimise disruption during the rainfall.
The district administration also urged citizens to avoid throwing garbage into drains and to immediately report any drainage-related complaints or emergencies to the relevant WASA officials for prompt action.
