Overseas Pakistanis are playing a key role in stabilizing the national economy: Dr. Pervez Iqbal Lohsar

Gujrat: Chairman of the EU-Pak Friendship Federation Europe, Dr. Pervez Iqbal Lohsar, has said that overseas Pakistanis are playing a key role in strengthening Pakistan’s economy through their record-breaking remittances and investments. Their love and commitment to their homeland is commendable, as they work hard abroad but send their earnings to Pakistan, making a significant contribution to strengthening the national economy.
He expressed these views while addressing the “Conference on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Pakistan,” which was held on July 25, 2026, in Gujrat.
Dr. Pervez Iqbal Lohsar urged the Government of Pakistan to establish an effective One-Window Operation system to promote investment by overseas Pakistanis, so that investors can be provided with the facility to complete NOCs and other legal and administrative requirements on a single platform. He said that overseas Pakistanis face severe difficulties due to having to go through various ministries and government departments and lengthy official procedures, while a One-Window system can prove to be an effective solution to these problems and will pave the way for more foreign investment.
He said that last year, overseas Pakistanis sent remittances worth 38 billion US dollars to Pakistan, while this year the volume has increased to 42 billion US dollars, which is a new record in the country’s history. He said that this success is a manifestation of the overseas Pakistanis’ confidence in their homeland and their unparalleled love for it.
Dr. Lohsar said that District Gujrat is a prominent district of Pakistan from where a large number of people are living abroad. These overseas Pakistanis are not only sending a large amount of foreign exchange to the homeland but are also playing an important role in promoting Foreign Direct Investment in Pakistan.
The chief guest of the conference was Major General Dilawar Khan, Director General Welfare and Rehabilitation (W&R). On this occasion, overseas Pakistanis from more than 50 countries around the world, including Khalid Asghar Gharral, participated.
A large number of officials and members of the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the Gujrat Press Club, business personalities, and people from various walks of life also attended the conference.
