LAHORE: The Punjab government has introduced a new “Endorsement Label” to encourage energy-efficient consumption, marking a step forward in its broader push toward green energy under the chief minister’s vision. The initiative, launched by the Energy Department Punjab, is designed to help consumers identify electricity-saving products and reduce overall power usage across the province.
Provincial Minister for Energy Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar formally inaugurated the programme at a ceremony attended by senior officials, including Secretary Energy Dr Farrukh Naveed. Authorities say the move is intended to address rising energy demands while promoting responsible consumption among households and industries.

According to officials, the endorsement label will be placed on verified appliances and products that meet defined energy efficiency standards. Consumers will be able to use the label as a guide when purchasing items, helping them choose options that consume less electricity.
The Energy Department said the initiative could contribute to lower electricity bills for consumers and reduce overall energy costs at a provincial level. Officials added that widespread adoption of efficient appliances may result in significant long-term savings.
The programme is being implemented under the government’s “Save Up Punjab” initiative, which focuses on promoting environmentally sustainable practices and modern energy solutions. Authorities also announced plans for a public awareness campaign to educate citizens about energy conservation and efficient usage.
Officials highlighted the role of institutional collaboration, particularly with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in developing and implementing the initiative. The government expects the programme to benefit both domestic and industrial consumers while supporting efforts to improve Punjab’s energy management system.
