MARDAN: The district administration in Mardan has initiated the “Ehsaas Tree Plantation Campaign” as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and address climate-related challenges.
Deputy Commissioner Wasif Rehman formally inaugurated the campaign by planting saplings at multiple locations, including the University of Mardan, the Commissioner Mardan Division House and the Deputy Commissioner House.
Initiative aligned with provincial vision
Officials said the campaign is in line with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s broader strategy to expand green cover and reduce the impact of environmental pollution across the province.
Speaking at the event, the deputy commissioner highlighted the importance of tree plantation in improving air quality and mitigating the effects of climate change.
Focus on long-term impact
He noted that increasing green spaces can contribute to healthier communities and a more sustainable urban environment.
The district administration aims to ensure that the initiative goes beyond plantation drives by encouraging proper maintenance and care of saplings.
Call for community involvement
Wasif Rehman called on public institutions, private organisations and citizens to take part in the campaign, stressing that collective efforts are necessary for its success.
He urged residents to actively support the initiative to help create a cleaner and greener Mardan for future generations.
