PAF takes over guard duties at Mazar-e-Iqbal during Pakistan Day ceremony

Lahore: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent took over guard duties at Mazar-e-Iqbal in Lahore on Pakistan Day, marking one of the key ceremonial observances held nationwide to honor the country’s founding vision and heritage.

The guard mounting ceremony was accompanied by a wreath-laying event at the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Shahid Afzaal, Air Officer Commanding PAF Airmen Academy Korangi Creek, attended as chief guest and laid a floral wreath, offering Fateha on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff and the wider PAF community.

Pakistan Day activities began earlier with special prayers after Fajr at PAF bases and installations across the country. The prayers focused on national unity, progress, and prosperity, as well as the well-being of the Muslim world.

Ceremony reflects tribute to Allama Iqbal

During the ceremony, the PAF contingent formally assumed responsibilities from the Satluj Rangers in a traditional change of guard. The event is held annually as part of March 23 commemorations and highlights the role of national institutions in preserving historical and ideological continuity.

Officials described the ceremony as a tribute to Allama Iqbal’s intellectual legacy and his enduring influence on Pakistan’s ideological foundation. The event concluded with prayers and formal proceedings at the mausoleum.
