ZTBL reduces fuel usage by 25% as energy concerns rise

ISLAMABAD — Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) has announced a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption across its nationwide operations as part of conservation measures introduced amid growing concerns about potential fuel shortages linked to tensions in the Middle East.

The bank said the decision has been implemented with immediate effect and applies to all offices across the country, including the head office. The move aims to support national efforts to manage fuel resources during a period of uncertainty in global energy supplies.

In an official statement, ZTBL management said controlling officers have been directed to ensure careful monitoring of fuel use while maintaining essential operational activities.

Officials noted that even small changes in daily work practices can collectively lead to significant fuel savings.

To implement the measure, employees—particularly field staff—have been advised to use fuel-efficient routes during official travel and adopt trip pooling to reduce the number of separate visits.

The bank has also encouraged staff to minimize unnecessary physical meetings and instead use digital communication tools such as video conferencing and telephone calls whenever possible.

ZTBL President and CEO Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti said organizations must adopt practical measures during challenging economic conditions.

Addressing the bank’s executive assembly, he said extraordinary circumstances require coordinated efforts to conserve resources while ensuring that routine operations and services continue without disruption.

ZTBL officials said the initiative is part of the bank’s broader effort to maintain operational efficiency while contributing to national energy conservation efforts during a period of rising energy concerns.
