RAWALPINDI — Pakistani security forces killed 13 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations carried out on March 6 and 7 in multiple districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the military’s media wing.
The operations were conducted as part of Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign targeting militant groups operating in the region. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the militants were killed in five separate engagements across Bajaur, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber and South Waziristan districts.
According to the statement, five militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district after security forces engaged their location in an exchange of fire.
In two additional encounters in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan districts, three militants were killed during operations conducted by security personnel.
Operations conducted across multiple districts
Security forces also carried out two separate engagements in Khyber and South Waziristan districts, where five more militants were killed, the ISPR said.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who the military said had been involved in several militant activities in the area.
Counterterrorism campaign continues
The military said the operations are part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts being carried out across the country, particularly in areas near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Security forces are continuing sanitization operations in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.
According to the ISPR, the operations are being conducted under the broader national counterterrorism framework “Azm-e-Istehkam,” which aims to eliminate militant networks and improve security across the country.
The military said Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to continuing operations against militant groups and safeguarding the country’s borders.
