REAP delegation meets Chinese consul general to discuss expanding rice exports

ISLAMABAD — Representatives of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) met with the Chinese consul general in Islamabad to discuss ways to expand rice exports and strengthen trade cooperation between Pakistan and China.

The REAP delegation meeting with the Chinese consul general was led by REAP Senior Vice Chairman Muhammad Jawed Jillani. Discussions focused on improving market access for Pakistani rice in China and exploring opportunities to enhance bilateral economic ties.

Members of REAP’s executive committee attending the meeting included Muhammad Khurram, Sheeraz Ahmed Sheikh, Mohaib Moulvi, Hassab Rauf and Jatendar Kumar. REAP Secretary Altaf Hussain Shaikh also participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed current trade relations and exchanged views on increasing rice exports from Pakistan to China. Officials discussed possible measures to facilitate trade and strengthen commercial engagement between the two countries.

Participants noted that Pakistan’s rice sector has potential to further expand exports to international markets, including China, through improved cooperation and trade facilitation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Muhammad Jawed Jillani presented a bouquet and a souvenir from REAP to the Chinese consul general as a gesture of goodwill.
