SWABI: A spring tree plantation campaign has been launched in Swabi, with a target of planting 1,000 saplings in Tehsil Bar, officials said on Wednesday.
Additional Assistant Commissioner Topi, Dr. Yamin Sanaa, announced the initiative while speaking to the media after inaugurating the campaign at Gadoon Economic Zone. She said that tree plantation efforts must go beyond ceremonial activities and stressed that heads of concerned departments would be responsible for ensuring the protection and maintenance of the saplings.
“Plantation should not remain a formality. Proper care and monitoring are essential so that the effort results in a greener and healthier environment,” she said.
During the inaugural ceremony, saplings were planted at Gadoon Economic Zone, while 100 saplings were planted at Gadoon Technical College. The event was attended by Gadoon Economic Zone Manager Engineer Tanveer Farooq, President of Swabi Chamber of Commerce, the college principal, and staff members, who also participated in the plantation drive.
Dr. Yamin Sanaa highlighted that increasing environmental changes and pollution make tree plantation an urgent necessity. She urged citizens, students, and social organizations to actively take part in the campaign and consider the protection of planted saplings as a shared responsibility.
