Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov, Commander of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces, met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on February 3, 2026, to review bilateral naval cooperation and regional maritime security.
The visit reflects ongoing efforts by Pakistan and Azerbaijan to strengthen defence relations, particularly between their navies, amid shared interests in maritime stability and professional collaboration.

The visiting commander was accorded a guard of honour by the Pakistan Navy on arrival and later laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada’s Monument. He was also introduced to principal staff officers at Naval Headquarters.
In their meeting, Rear Admiral Mammadov and Admiral Naveed Ashraf discussed avenues for expanding cooperation in training and defence-related activities. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the existing bilateral defence framework.
A briefing on Pakistan Navy’s ongoing initiatives was also given to the visiting dignitary. Officials said the visit would contribute to closer coordination between the two navies in the future.
