Arid Agriculture University introduces E-File system to strengthen digital governance

Rawalpindi: Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi has taken a significant step toward smart campus governance with the introduction of an E-File Management System, aimed at modernizing administrative processes and promoting paperless operations.

The system was formally inaugurated during a campus ceremony by Vice Chancellor Qamar-uz-Zaman, who described the initiative as a reflection of the university’s commitment to digital transformation and institutional reform.

Addressing the gathering, the vice chancellor said that universities worldwide are moving toward digital governance models to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability. He noted that the adoption of the E-File Management System places Arid Agriculture University in line with international best practices while also supporting environmental sustainability through reduced paper usage.

He emphasized that the initiative goes beyond automation, representing a strategic shift toward improved governance, faster decision-making, and better service delivery for faculty, staff, and students. According to him, embracing digital solutions is essential for higher education institutions aiming to remain competitive in an increasingly technology-driven academic environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Director IT Services Nadeem A. Malik said that the Directorate of IT Services is actively working to transform the university into a smart campus by introducing modern and secure digital systems.

He added that the E-File Management System will help streamline administrative workflows, improve employee productivity, reduce manual paperwork, and save time and resources. The system, he said, will also strengthen transparency and accountability across departments, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable administrative structure.

University officials expressed confidence that the new system will play a key role in improving institutional performance and supporting the university’s long-term vision of technology-driven governance.
